全天幸运飞艇数据网页。It only takes a quick stroll through a dog park to give you a good idea of which breeds are most common these days—and now, you can corroborate your observations with data from the American Kennel Club (AKC).

As WBBJ-TV , the AKC just released its annual of most popular dog breeds, based on registration statistics from 2019. The Labrador Retriever took the top spot, extending its decades-long reign to a whopping 29 years. Before Labs rose to popularity in 1991, the Cocker Spaniel全天幸运飞艇数据网页。—just 28th on this list—had a monopoly on #1 for 23 years.

The German Shepherd and the Golden Retriever rounded out 2019’s top three, and the French Bulldog landed in fourth, edging out its chunkier relative, the Bulldog, by just one position. the AKC, French Bulldogs were the most popular dog in both New York City and Chicago for the sixth year in a row, suggesting city dwellers gravitate toward smaller breeds that don’t require much room to roam.

While the top five were somewhat predictable, the list isn’t without a surprise or two. The Pembroke Welsh Corgi, a longtime favorite of Queen Elizabeth II, cracked the top 10 for the first time ever, which may have some correlation to their adorable performance on Netflix’s The Crown.

If you’re wondering why the list is so heavy on classic dogs like Poodles, Beagles, and Dachshunds, it’s because the AKC is pretty specific about which breeds it officially recognizes. Designer dogs and other hybrids don’t make the cut, even if they’ve become extremely common; Labradors and Poodles are both purebreds, for example, but Labradoodles aren’t.

Do Dogs Get Headaches?

Like babies, dogs can be hard to read in the medical ailment department. Are they listless because they’re tired, or because they’re sick? What’s behind their whining? And can they suffer that most human of debilitating conditions, the headache?

polled several veterinarians and animal behavior specialists to find out, and the answer seems to be a resounding yes.

Although a dog can’t express discomfort in a specific way, particularly if it doesn’t involve limping, animal experts know that canines that have diagnosed brain tumors or encephalitis can also be observed to have a high heart rate, a sign of physical pain. According to Tim Bentley, an associate professor of veterinary neurology and neurosurgery at Purdue Veterinary Medicine, administering painkillers will bring a dog’s heart rate down. If signs of physical distress also decrease, a headache was likely involved.

全天幸运飞艇数据网页。Unfortunately, not all dogs may offer overt signals they’re feeling some brain pain. According to Adam Boyko, an associate professor of biomedical sciences at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, dogs instinctively try to mask pain to avoid showing weakness.

Ultimately, dogs have many of the same central neural pathways as humans, which can likely go awry in some of the same ways. But the kind of persistent headaches owing to head colds or hangovers are probably rare in dogs. And while it goes without saying, they definitely don't need any of your Advil.
